Supplies:

  • Synthetic Rhinestone Purse
  • Rit DyeMore for Synthetics in Plum Berry
  • Stainless Steel Pot for Dyeing
  • Measuring Spoon + Cups
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Paper towels
  • Tongs

Time: 30 Minutes

Difficulty: Beginner

Instructions:

  1. Prewash purse and dry with clean paper towel to remove any finishes that may interfere with dye absorption.
  2. Fill dye pot with enough hot water (roughly 200F) to submerge the bottom half of the purse, roughly 1-2 gallons.
  3. Wearing rubber gloves, shake Rit bottle really well. Pour half a bottle (1/2 cup) of dye into dyebath and mix well.
  4. Immerse bottom half of the purse into dyebath and continuously pull up and down for 5-10 minutes with tongs to create a smooth gradient.
  5. When desired color is achieved, remove purse from the dyebath and rinse just the dyed area in warm water, then gradually cool.
  6. Wash your purse with dish detergent and let it dry.
